Event Styles

Light that survives a marquee at dusk

100+ curated styles built for food photographed mid-service, in whatever light the venue gave you. Dark artisan surfaces keep a jus glossy instead of flat and grey under a marquee lining; warm oak and linen make a family-style roast read generous; bright marble keeps forty identical canapés looking identical. Upload the phone shot you took in a barn at eight — orange uplighters, blown sauce — and FoodShot replaces that lighting entirely. The same discipline carries a catering gallery and a proposal alike.

Builder Mode

Surface plus vessel plus dish equals a pitch page

Pick a surface, choose a vessel, upload your event photo — Builder Mode composites all three, so the stacking chairs, trestle legs and service tent behind your plate never reach the frame. That is catering's real problem: the plate is excellent and the two feet around it belong to somebody else's building. Clean composites are what make catering menu design work on a phone screen, tidy an event catering menu for corporate tenders, and keep pace with a mobile bar gallery.

My Styles

One house look across every event you cater

Upload your best-looking plate as a style reference, and every new dish — Saturday wedding breakfast, corporate lunch, kitchen tasting — automatically matches that lighting, angle and mood. That consistency turns a camera roll into a bookable catering portfolio: one company with a recognisable hand, not forty events under forty different bulbs. It lifts catering sales, because one considered body of work justifies a per-head price a folder of snapshots never will. The same reference keeps private chef and event venue work in step.

Perfect For

Every kind of caterer who sells from a proposal

From a two-van wedding caterer to an events company running four marquees a weekend, the sales process is the same — a deck, a tasting, a gallery, all built on food you have already cooked.

💍

Wedding Caterers

You cook a five-course wedding breakfast in a field kitchen and nobody photographs it, so next week's proposal goes out with pictures from a 2023 marquee. One frame per course at the pass keeps the deck, the gallery and the supplier list current.

📄

Sales Directors and Event Managers

Your win rate lives in a PDF. Every catering proposal that loses, loses to one that looked better on a phone at eleven at night. A consistent set of course images turns a price list into something a couple can picture themselves eating.

🥂

Corporate and Conference Caterers

Awards dinners, launches, all-day conference catering and canapé receptions all get judged from an event catering menu attached to an email. Photograph the buffet and the plated tier once and reuse it across every tender you write this year.

🔥

Live Station and Street-Food Caterers

Paella pans, carveries, pasta wheels and wood-fired ovens photograph brilliantly and almost never get shot, because the person running the station has both hands full. One overhead of the finished pan before service is the whole shoot.

🍰

Dessert Table and Cake Specialists

You build a dessert table for two hours and it is dismantled in twenty minutes. A single frame of the full spread and one of the cake before the cut gives you a portfolio piece from every event you have already been paid for.

📊

New Caterers Writing the Plan

If you are working through a catering business plan and pricing your first packages, images are the cheapest credibility you can buy. Cook the menu once at home, photograph each dish, and launch with a portfolio instead of a promise.

No. FoodShot never sends a photographer, never runs an on-site or studio shoot, never prints menus or proposal documents, and never cooks or fabricates a dish for you. It restyles photos you take yourself. You cook the real course, plate it exactly the way you plate it on the night, take a phone photo of it at the pass, upload that photo, and FoodShot re-lights and re-stages that exact image — the same dish, the same sauce, the same garnish, the same portion size. Nothing is invented, which matters more in catering than almost anywhere else: the couple who booked from your proposal has to recognise what lands in front of them at the wedding breakfast. What changes is the lighting, the surface underneath and the clutter behind — not the food. If a dish is not on your menu, it will never appear in your photographs.

One frame per dish, taken in the sixty seconds between the last garnish and the plate leaving the pass. That is the entire shoot. Hold the phone directly over the plate, take three frames, and carry on — it costs you less time than wiping a rim. Shooting at the pass moment matters because that is the only instant the dish is correct: the jus still holds its edge, the herbs have not wilted under plate heat, the crust has not softened beneath a sauce and nothing has slid. A course photographed four minutes later is a different dish. Across a full wedding — canapés, starter, main, dessert, evening food — five frames over six hours gives you a complete menu set for the next proposal, and no guest will ever notice you doing it.

That is the specific problem it was built for. Catered food is almost never photographed in good light: a marquee lining throws a green or ivory cast across everything, uplighters wash the room in amber or magenta, a barn at eight in the evening is effectively dark, and a phone flash flattens the plate and blows the sauce into a white smear. FoodShot does not correct that lighting, it replaces it — the image is re-lit from scratch with a single directional key, a chosen surface and a controlled background, so the same beef fillet that looked grey-green in a tent comes back with a defined crust and a jus that reads glossy. The one thing it needs from you is a photo where the dish is in focus and reasonably framed. Steady the phone, get the whole plate in, and the light is no longer your problem.

Photograph every dish you serve at the events you are already catering, run each through the same style, and you accumulate a library that maps onto your menu rather than a folder of miscellaneous snapshots. When a new enquiry comes in for a two-hundred-guest August wedding, you pull the canapés, the starter, the main, the dessert and the evening food for the menu you are actually quoting and drop them straight into the proposal. Because every image was styled with the same lighting and surface, the deck reads as one considered body of work instead of five different photographers on five different days. The same set feeds your tasting confirmation, your website gallery, the venue's supplier page and your social posts, so one afternoon of shooting keeps working for months.

That is a conversation to have with your clients, not a technical limit, and most caterers handle it with a single line in the booking contract giving them permission to photograph the food they have cooked. FoodShot only ever restyles the food itself: the process works on a tight frame of the plate or platter, and the standard advice is to shoot close enough that the venue, the table setting and the guests are out of frame entirely. Builder Mode then replaces whatever background did creep in with a clean surface, so nothing identifiable about the venue or the couple's event survives into the finished image. What you publish is a photograph of your own cooking on a neutral surface — no room, no faces, no décor.

Completely, and the two are not substitutes. A wedding photographer is hired by the couple to document their day, and food is a courtesy at best — you might get two frames of a plated main shot from standing height in ambient light, delivered six weeks later, and you generally need permission to use them commercially. That gives you a handful of images a year and none of them are consistent with each other. FoodShot gives you a photograph of every dish you serve, styled identically, available in about two minutes, that belongs to you outright. Most caterers use both: the photographer's images carry the atmosphere and the room, and their own restyled dish photos carry the menu, the proposal and the portfolio.

Your catering deserves better photos.
