Bottle Styles

Light that reads glass instead of fighting it

100+ curated styles for the way packaged drink photographs. Dark slate setups give spirits the narrow highlight down the glass edge that separates a bottle from a cut-out; clean daylight backdrops keep pale rosé and near-black Bordeaux legible in one row; cool industrial surfaces turn can condensation into beads, not haze. Upload a counter snap under shop fluorescents and FoodShot fixes the green cast and the blown-out label — most of what makes DIY liquor store marketing look amateur. More in our beverage photography guide.

Builder Mode

Surface plus backdrop plus bottle equals done

Pick a surface — dark slate, pale oak counter, polished concrete. Choose a backdrop — seamless sweep, moody tile, near-black fall-off. Upload your bottle photo and Builder Mode composites all three into one image, so the price gun, the ticket rail and the queue at the till never make it into the frame. The product is fine; the two feet around it are a stockroom. It is also how you shoot a forty-line spirits wall without clearing the counter forty times.

My Styles

One look across a shelf you did not choose

Upload your cleanest amber spirit or best-lit wine row as a style reference, and every bottle you shoot afterwards matches that lighting, angle and colour treatment. Your range is not six dishes — it is four hundred allocated lines, in different glass, with labels that never spoke to each other. The one thing you control is how they are photographed: one look reads as a buyer with a point of view; ad hoc reads as a warehouse. It keeps wine and beer posts in step.

Perfect For

Every kind of off-premise drinks retailer

From a single-till corner shop with four hundred lines to a three-store group refreshing an end cap every fortnight — FoodShot works from the photos you already take on your own counter.

🥃

Independent Liquor Stores

You are the one pricing the delivery and writing the Friday post at ten at night. Photograph the bottle before it hits the shelf and post a product shot — not a phone snap next to a price gun.

🍷

Neighbourhood Wine Shops

Your whole proposition is that someone tasted these and chose them. That only lands if the row of six staff picks looks like a considered line-up rather than six bottles photographed under a spotlight at different times of day with three different white balances.

🍺

Craft Beer Bottle Shops

The range turns over faster than anyone can shoot it, and half arrives in cans that already fight for attention. A consistent surface and light let the can design work instead of competing with a chill-cabinet reflection.

🥤

RTD & Canned-Cocktail Specialists

Ready-to-drink is the fastest-moving category on the shelf and the one most likely to be sold on a scroll. Slim cans photograph well when the condensation reads as beads and the colour block stays saturated, and badly when a phone flattens both into grey.

🎁

Gift, Bundle & Corporate Sellers

A bundle is worth what it looks worth. Boxes, ribbon and kraft shred all live or die on raking light, and a gift set photographed flat under shop fluorescents will always be talked down on price before anyone reads what is inside it.

🏪

Small Chains & Multi-Site Groups

Three stores means three people photographing the same promotion three ways. A shared style reference gives every site the same look without sending anyone a lighting kit, so the weekly-deal grid holds together no matter which counter it was shot on.

No. FoodShot never sends a photographer, never runs an on-site or studio shoot, never prints anything for you and never invents a product you do not stock. It restyles photos you take yourself. You stand the real bottle on your own counter, take a phone photo of it, upload that photo, and FoodShot re-lights and re-stages that exact image — the same bottle, the same label, the same fill level, the same seal. Nothing is fabricated from scratch, which matters when a customer walks in holding their phone and compares the picture to the bottle on your shelf. What changes is the light, the surface underneath and the clutter behind, not the product. If it is not in your stockroom, it will not appear in your photos.

That is the single most common failure in shop-floor photos and it has two causes. Overhead fluorescent and older LED strip throw a green-cyan cast that your phone tries to correct by warming everything, which turns a cream label muddy and a chilled cabinet sickly. At the same time the phone meters for the whole frame, so a bright label on dark glass gets pushed until the paper clips to pure white and the printed detail disappears. FoodShot re-lights the bottle with a controlled key rather than correcting the room, so the label goes back to being paper with grain and tone, the glass gets one clean highlight down its edge instead of a scatter of hot spots, and the spirit inside keeps its actual colour rather than drifting orange.

Both, and they do different jobs. A single sealed bottle on a clean surface is what works for a new-arrival post, a product listing or an email header, because the label has to be readable at thumbnail size. A shelf or end-cap frame is what shows curation — it is the only shot that proves you chose a range rather than took an allocation. FoodShot handles multi-item frames as well as single products, so you can shoot a stocked bay, a six-bottle staff-pick line-up, a stack of four-packs or a nine-up grid of the week's deals and have them all come back matched to the same lighting and surface treatment.

Yes, and that is deliberate. FoodShot restyles your photograph rather than generating a new product, so the bottle in the image is the bottle you photographed: same glass colour, same silhouette, same closure, same label, same fill. It does not swap in a different vintage, upgrade a closure, change a can design or add a product that is not there. The lighting, the surface and the background are what change. That distinction matters more in packaged retail than in almost any other category, because your customer is holding the physical item next to the picture that sold it, and a mismatch is a refund and a bad review rather than a mild disappointment.

That is most of what shops use it for. Photograph the products going on promotion, run them through one style so the whole set matches, and you have a grid for the Friday post, crops for stories, and a header for the Thursday email — out of one session on the counter. The value is consistency: nine products shot on nine different days under nine different lighting conditions look like a jumble no matter how good the offer is, while nine products on one surface under one light read as a considered promotion. FoodShot produces the images. Scheduling, pricing, offer terms and where they get posted stay entirely with you.

The photographs FoodShot produces for this use case are sealed, off-premise product shots: bottles, cans, multipacks and gift boxes on a surface. There are no people in frame, no hands, no glassware, nothing poured and nothing garnished, and no consumption is depicted — which is the shape most platforms and most alcohol marketing codes are looking for in a product image. That said, FoodShot is a photo tool, not a compliance service. Age-gating your account, setting the right audience restrictions, honouring your local advertising code and clearing anything with your own licensing authority all remain your responsibility.

Your shelf deserves better photos.
